Lampeter Accommodation

The historic market town of Lampeter lies in the picturesque Teifi Valley in Ceredigion, West Wales. Surrounded by the beautiful Welsh countryside, Lampeter offers an ideal base for visitors wanting to enjoy the great outdoors. Walkers can explore the network of footpaths leading to picturesque rivers and lakes as well as prehistoric forts. For keen anglers, the river Teifi which runs to the south of the town provides excellent salmon and trout fishing. Lampeter is also a great base for cyclists, offering miles of quiet country lanes as well as dedicated mountain bike trails at the nearby Brechfa Forest.

Lampeter is home to the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, previously known as the University of Wales Lampeter and originally as St David’s College. The University was established in 1822 and is the oldest degree awarding institution in England and Wales after Oxford and Cambridge. Visitors are free to take a walk through the University grounds which feature the Old Building, a neo-gothic quadrangle, designed by Charles Robert Cockerell and the University Chapel. Within the grounds also lie the remains of Lampeter Castle, a motte and bailey of which only a small mound to the rear of the Old Building can be seen today. For further information on Lampeter's past, the museum located in the Town Library on Market Street provides a small collection of artefacts showcasing the history of the town.

Lampeter’s town centre offers an array of shops, cafés, restaurants and pubs as well as the Jen Jone’s Quilt Centre which celebrates the heritage of Welsh quilt making. Situated in Lampeter Town Hall, the centre holds exhibitions and courses and has a gallery, shop and café for visitors to enjoy.

Parking in Lampeter is available on Harford Row, Mount Walk and along College Street. Further parking is also provided at Sainsburys on Market Street and the Co-operative on Bridge Street. Public conveniences can be found on Bryn Road, Market Street and opposite Mount Walk car park.
